In the project region of South-eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (EECCA) the project wants to do capacity building regarding functioning, processes and options for participation in IPBES. The project aims at strengthening impact and relevance of IPBES find-ings on decisions in environmental policy in the partner countries.
Project partners are governments and relevant ministries as well as representatives of science and civil society. National and regional workshops will help to provide capacity building materials in English and Russian, train trainers and prepare for IPBES plenary meetings.
The project strengthens administrations' and civil society organisations' capacities and fosters international cooperation for the conservation of biodiversity.
The first set of back-to-back workshops (2 days national and 3 days regional) took place in Yerevan (Armenia) in May 2022, with participants from Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Moldova and Romania. It concentrated on the preparation of IPBES 9 plenary.
The second set was held in Skopje (North-Macedonia) in October 2022 (WS-report). Participants came from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, North-Macedonia, Romania and Serbia. The workshop had a focus of national ecosystem assessments.
