Scientific base for the EU biodiversity strategy post 2020 and the German EU Presidency

In May 2020, the EU decided on a new biodiversity strategy until 2030. The project aim was to support Germany in its contribution to the EU biodiversity policy, especially during the German EU Presidency in the second half of 2020. This included examination of documents of the EU Commission, member states, and position papers of organisations on the EU biodiversity strategy. The results are supported the scientific and strategic base in biodiversity related discussion and were used by Germany, the Commission and member states. The Nature Directors Meeting in August 2020 was prepared and moderated by the project team.

In the first half of 2021, the project will include expert workshops for thematic discussions on the EU restoration targets.
