Conservation of terrestrial biodiversity

The aim of the project on conservation of terrestrial biodiversity by the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit) is to support the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in policy and implementation processes that foster the conservation of terrestrial biodiversity. The project supports the fields of actions as defined by the BMZ: policy support, innovation and development of the portfolio, implementation and communication.
Focus topics include: CBD post-2020 process, financing of biodiversity conservation and resource mobilization, protected areas, combating illegal hunting and illegal wildlife trade. Other topics are human rights, gender aspects, indigenous peoples and local communities, nature based solutions and communication.
