Climate change adaptation strategies in systems of soil use

Many soil conservation projects in Germany deal with climate change and adaptation strategies. Building on a comprehensive literature and data recherche a complex overview and analysis of factors of climate change related to soil conservation was performed and recommendations for methods and adaptation strategies developed. The study investigates consequences of climate change for soil functions, e.g. the consequences of increased decomposition for soils, the consequences of land use changes or the influence of climate relevant gases on soils. The strategies include measures to protect the soil from climate change, as well as measures to safe the climate from changing soil conditions, especially by lowering the evaporation of climate relevant gases from soils.
