mplementing target 5 of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC) in Germany

To discuss status, opportunities and options of implementing target 5 of the GSPC ('50% of the most important areas for plant conservation are protected') in Germany, a workshop was held at the international academy for nature conservation (Vilm Island) from Oct. 9.-12th, 2008, on behalf of the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation. Representatives of administrations, NGOs, science and international experts discussed the data basis, options of improving it and the concept of important plant areas (IPA) and its implementation. They agreed on recommendations on how to determine these IPAs. These recommendations are included in the workshop report.
