Dr Francis Foeckler (born 1954) studied biology at the Universities of Regensburg and Bayreuth, graduating 1983, 1984 to 1986 he was employed as a limnologist by the Rhein-Main-Donau AG, Munich, to characterize and evaluate the alluvial flood plains of the Danube upstream of Straubing by surveyed mollusks and aquatic macroinvertebrates as bioindicators. 1989 he finished his PHD at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich. 1990 he participated in a project of the German Ministry of Education and Science summarizing the deficits of species- and biotope-conservation-research in Germany. Since 1991 he is one of the two managing partners of the ÖKON Gesellschaft für Landschaftsökologie, Gewässerbiologie und Umweltplanung mbH (OEKON Ltd. Association for Landscape Ecology, Limnology and Environmental Planning) – www.oekon.com. 1991 - 2006 he functioned as a visiting lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan, Freising, in the faculty of Landscape-Management. 2013 he was attested an authorized expert in limnology by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Regensburg. His key activities are: ecological analyses and evaluation of freshwaters (springs, streams, rivers, alluvial flood plains, and standing water bodies), biotope-conservation-research, -analysis, -evaluation, and improvement-implementation, efficiency control, bio-monitoring, bio-indication, pest control, and more.
