Eva Gottfried studied English and Spanish at the Institute for Translators and Interpreters (IÜD) of the University of Heidelberg and qualified as an Academically Certified Translator. Further on, she graduated in Biology at the University of Heidelberg with the main emphases on Botany, Microbiology and Genetics. She finalized here studies at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) with a thesis on cellular transport systems. Within the following years she worked on the topic of tumor biology at the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich (LMU) and was conferred a doctorate of science. Afterwards, she went on working in science at the University of Regensburg with her research interest focussed on interactions of several cell populations in neoplastic tissues, a topic which she analyzed in 3-dimensional cell culture systems. She completed her research activity with the habilitation in experimental medicine. In the context of her scientific activity she was not only engaged in lab work but also in scientific writing and peer-reviewing. Based on her activity in science and her language skills, Eva Gottfried meanwhile works as a freelance translator and science editor with specialization in biological sciences, health care and the environment. Her special interest relates to bioeconomy and the sustainable use of resources for biodiversity conservation.
